1st Thought Poem

Alligators,
Pompinators
How does your garden grow?
Goosebump tails
and horse nut males
all in a corn row.
Beer battered women
lucky stars sizzlin'
cotton candy bales
setting sail
with aeroplanes
on window panes.
bumper crops
of peace time props
organic lairs
filled with oily pears
scattered leaves of bay...
It's been a long day.

Moral Conscience... go away (eating animals)

I was preparing dinner - more specifically, cutting up chicken- when I began to wonder how that chicken was treated when it was alive. Some may think this is very silly for me to give it this much thought. Like, if that's the only thing that I have to worry about, then I'm in good shape. I do have other very important things on my mind, but this was the thought that I had while chopping up some de-boned chicken that I thawed out from the freezer.

Was this chicken free-range? I doubt it. I didn't pay enough for it to be free-range. Was this chicken cage-free? I doubt it. It was probably packed in so tightly into a dark building that it couldn't move. It probably even wallowed in its own waste.  Additionally, it was probably genetically modified so that the breasts were 2-3 times bigger than a non-GMO (genetically modified organism) preventing it from being able to walk.

Why is it this way? Because I want my food cheap and abundant. I cooked the chicken. We ate it. It was good.

I think I'll try to eat less meat and maybe I won't feel so bad for the animals.

*There were no animals mis-treated or harmed in the making of my radish and green onion salad - except for the pesky robin that we keep shoo-ing out of our garden.
