Winter in the Heat of Summer

Remember the   n   e   v   e   r  -  e   n   d   i   n   g   COLD winter?

wasn't that long ago,
that we had three feet of snow.

the windchill minus ten,
risking frostbite on the skin.

dressing layer after layer,
feeling toasty was even rarer.

Icy roads and 4-wheel drives,
of warmth, we were deprived.

So sick of snow!
This really blows... the wind.

is climate change doing harm?
when will it ever get warm?

Does anyone have a fix?
because today is one hundred and six.

My Son

red headed shaggy curls,
pale cover highlights bright blue eyes,
face after Mom,
structure after Dad,
adored by two families,
loved more than a poem can say,
intelligent, witty, humorous,
sensible, empathetic, courteous,
One and Only baby boy.
forward thinking, independent,
respectful and kind.
Can he stay little forever?
growing, changing, and maturing,
the world is his canvas
waiting to become a masterpiece.
Perfection.
